Go, go, go, a voice advised.
Another believed he had to wait.
John Daly went with the first – then tore a ball through the bricks across a street and into what appeared to be a two-story building on what appeared to be New Year’s Eve. Just before contact, a voice that sounded like Daly’s said, “Twenty-twenty-five.”
Some toasts to December 31st with champagne. Others with “Auld Lang Syne.” Then there’s Daly, who’s fifth major could well be the day of fun that marks the final hours of a year. You know the stories. Notably, the PGA and Open Championship winner has been seen before crashing on a freeway. In 2022, he was recorded hitting a ball over cars and into what was referred to as a high school football field in Akron, Ohio.
His last outfield throw was caught by “chicubsramzing” on Redditand spread widely from the Golf account on CBS X. During the 19-second recording, you can make out:
— Daly with a cigarette in his mouth, gold shoes on his feet and what looks like a driver in his hands. A white foot bag is to his left and a head covering is on the ground, and behind it is a bag showing the colors of the University of Michigan. He is standing on a white golf ball wedged between two bricks and a three-lane road is about 15 meters in front of him. It’s also night and the street lights are on, as is Daly’s Good Boy Vodka RV, which is parked behind him.
— Daly swinging his club once before a voice shouts, “Wait, one more car.” Daly has to wait for the traffic to clear. He turns around and two cars are seen driving in opposite directions.
— Daly returns from the ball and takes another club swing as the cars clear. Here, he listens to the advice noted at the top of the article.
– Daly swings. His ball clears the building about 50 yards away as voices scream. “Yaaay,” says one. “Oh s**t,” says another. “Woooo, come on,” says another.
– Daly and some people celebrating. After the hit, Daly hands his bat to a man in a white shirt, who later pats him on the back. Another man has his hands up and Daly eventually slaps his hand away. In the background you can see a woman and another man, who is recording the action. At the end of the video, four more viewers appear.
Was it safe? Not really, although the Reddit poster said that the building is not in use and that there is water behind it. Should you try it? No, you shouldn’t. Did you laugh? Maybe. However, let’s continue the conversation with Daly. At last month’s PNC Championship, this site wrote an article titled “Tiger Woods greets John Daly at PNC – and they talk ‘3-letter words'” and you can read that story here by clicking hereor by moving immediately below.

Tiger Woods, when he saw John Daly, apparently did not forget. However, this time, the invitations were reversed.
The first time? For this, we must refer an article published by this site in 2016. Its headline was wonderfully: “That time John Daly asked Tiger Woods for a beer.”
Below is the text of the story:
When it comes to training, Tiger Woods and John Daly may have different approaches you call them.
IN an interview for the Golf ChannelDaly recalled a time in 2004 at the Target World Challenge when he was enjoying some grown-up drinks after Wednesday night. Daly was with some friends and was at the club drinking and telling stories when Woods entered the room.
“Tiger’s over there in his workout clothes, and I said, Tiger, come have a beer with us, man,” Daly said.
Woods told Daly he couldn’t do it because he was headed to the gym, but Daly didn’t back down.
“I go, man, you don’t need to train,” Daly said. “You should have a drink with us.”
Woods’ answer may not be what you expect.
“(Woods) said, ‘If I had your talent, I’d do the same thing you’re doing,'” Daly said. “I’m looking at him thinking, ‘You’re crazy, man.'”
With that setup, we head into Friday and the PNC Championship, the (mostly) friendly pro-relative scrimmage event that closes out the golf year. Woods, a 15-time major winner, and teenage son Charlie are playing; Daly, a two-time major winner, and golf’s son, John Daly II, are playing; and they saw each other at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., the moment of capture by the PNC Championship social media team.
Woods exclaimed, before smiling and laughing, “I’ll meet you at the gym.”
In the video, he then walked over to Daly, they hugged — and they had this exchange:
Daly said with a laugh, “At least our gyms are three-letter words. Yours is a gym. Mine is grass.”
Woods replied, also laughing, “Okay.”
