This Major League Baseball offseason has been full of excitement and surprises, including big trades and big-time free agent signings.
One of the biggest acquisitions last season was the New York Mets signing top free agent Juan Soto to a 15-year contract worth $765 million.
The Mets made plenty of moves this offseason, including signing Soto, relief pitcher Clay Holmes and outfielder Jose Siri.
While the Mets have made several big signings, the team reportedly offered one more player before he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
According to MLB writer Tim Healy’s B/R Walk-Off via the X , the Mets offered Teoscar Hernandez a two-year deal before he resigned from the Dodgers.

Hernandez eventually signed a three-year, $66 million contract extension with the Dodgers, but the Mets made the star outfielder an offer before then.
The Mets seem on track to win the World Series in 2025, and adding Hernandez would give their offense another boost.
Hernandez entered the league in 2016 with the Houston Astros and has played for four MLB teams during his nine-year career.
In 2024, Hernandez played 154 games with the Dodgers, where he batted .272 with 33 home runs, 99 RBI and an .840 OPS.
The Mets will be a team to keep an eye on as the offseason progresses, as they appear to be willing to spend more money to fill out their roster ahead of the 2025 season.
First baseman Pete Alonso has yet to sign with a team this offseason, and the Mets are one of the teams involved.
