Greatest Golf Moments of 2024 No. 3: Scottie Scheffler’s entire season

Let’s celebrate this milestone in the year-end countdown by counting down OVER. We’ve run out of ways to describe Scottie Scheffler’s brilliance in words – let’s try the numbers here.

Scottie Scheffler finished first (1) in a dizzying number of categories, including strokes gained, scoring average, official money, about a dozen other very important categories, and the biggest of all: world ranking.

Scheffler’s win in April means he now has two (2) Masters wins, making him one of only 18 people in that exclusive club.

Scheffler won the PGA Tour Player of the Year, joining Tiger Woods as the only players to win the award three times. (3) consecutive times.

Scheffler overturned four (4) wins in five starts in March and April, when he claimed the Arnold Palmer, Players, Masters and RBC Heritage. A disappointing fifth tournament in that span? He finished T2 at the Houston Open, just missing a putt that would have earned him a spot in a playoff.

Scheffler shot five (5) under par at Valhalla on the day of his infamous arrest on Friday of the PGA Championship. He would go on to finish T8 for the week.

Scheffler led the PGA Tour with seven (7) official wins, the most in a season since Tiger Woods had eight in 2006.

Scheffler really had nine (9) wins, if you count the World Hero Challenge (which you probably should) and Olympic gold (which you should count, like, extra).

Scheffler shared ten million dollars (10) in crypto with Rory McIlroy after both beat Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka in the Coping in December. He suggested that this might be the motivation he needs to learn what crypto really is.

Scheffler is now thirteen (13) career wins – all 13 coming since Ted Scott became his career prior to the 2022 season.

Sheffler is sixteen (16) Top 10s led the PGA Tour even though he played just 19 events; only Xander Schauffele also had double figures.

Scheffler is twenty-nine (29) the back nine in the final round of the Olympics gave him the gold medal; was definitely the most incredible ninth single of the season.

Scheffler is now forty-four (44) cutting in one line; His last MC came at the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open. It’s worth noting that many of Scheffler’s starts these days come in non-cut events, but still – 44 is no joke. Only two other players currently have streaks longer than 17.

Scheffler’s victory in the Hero World Challenge gave him his final $1 million, pushing him over sixty-three million ($63) for the season in on-course earnings alone, when you count his earnings (more than $30 million) plus a FedEx Cup bonus ($25 million) and a Comcast bonus ($8 million).

Average Scheffler score (68.01) set a new PGA Tour record.

We’ll see what 2025 brings.
