Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa He referred to the latest news regarding the arrest warrant issued against him in connection with the alleged fraud related to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) deposits.

According to Times of India, the warrant requires Uthappa to pay INR 23,36,602 in unpaid dues. A former Indian startup listed as a director of Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd. has been asked to appear before the commissioner by December 27. The order also authorizes his arrest if a fee of INR 5,000 and transaction fee is not paid within the stipulated time.

Robin Uthappa’s response to EPF scam news
In response to the allegations, Uthappa has contacted the said companies namely Strawberry Lenceria Pvt. made a statement to clarify his position regarding his relationship with Ltd, Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt. Ltd and Berry Fashion House.
“In light of the recent news regarding the PF case against me, I would like to provide some clarification regarding my association with these companies” Uthappa stated as quoted by TOI.
He explained that he was appointed as a director of these companies in 2018-19 with the financial contributions he gave them as a loan. However, the Karnataka-lad emphasized that he was never actively involved in their day-to-day operations. “I did not have an active executive role, nor did I participate in the day-to-day work of the enterprises. Given my demanding schedule as a professional cricketer, broadcaster and commentator, I had neither the time nor the expertise to be involved in their operations. In fact, I have not played an executive role in other companies that I have financed so far.” he said.
Uthappa later revealed that the companies were unable to repay the loans he had extended, prompting him to initiate legal proceedings which are still ongoing. The 39-year-old specialist also announced that he resigned from the directorship years ago.
“When the Provident Fund authorities issued notices demanding payment of dues, my legal team responded and emphasized that I had no role in these companies and submitted documents from the companies themselves confirming my non-involvement. Despite this, the authorities of the Security Fund continue the process. he said.
Uthappa assured that the legal advisors are actively working on the issue and appropriate steps will be taken to resolve the issue in the coming days.
