The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has slammed Prithvi Shaw following his emotional outburst on social media after being dropped from Mumbai’s squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 starting Saturday, December 21.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) labeled the Indian batsman as his “own enemy” as the state body cited repeated disciplinary problems, ethics and poor fitness as the main reasons that marred his career.

However, the MCA did not hold back in its response, stating that Prithvi Shaw’s conduct both on and off the field was a regular violation of disciplinary norms. A top MCA official revealed that Shaw’s indiscipline was so evident during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 that the team was often forced to “hide” him on the field due to his poor fitness levels.
During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25 matches, Shaw struggled to even reach balls hit close to him, leaving the team with only 10 active fielders at times, the official said. His training, discipline and attitude are poor: MCA
An MCA official was told by PTI on condition of anonymity, “In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, we were playing with 10 players as we had to cover Prithvi Shaw. The ball would pass by him and he would barely reach it.”
The MCA official also noted that Shaw’s fitness and behavioral problems were evident even during the batting. He also revealed that the senior players of the Mumbai team have started voicing their frustrations over Shaw’s approach and failure to live up to the expectations of the team.
The judge added: “Even when batting, we could see he was struggling to reach the ball. His training, discipline and attitude are poor, and it’s quite simple: there can’t be different rules for different players. Even the seniors in the team have now started to complain about his attitude.”
MCA condemns Prithvi Shaw’s behavior and calls him ‘Own enemy’
MCA also made it clear that Prithvi Shaw’s emotional posts will not change anything. A senior MCA official said that Shaw was to blame for his ouster because he was not even sticking to the fitness program at the MCA Academy.
The official made it clear that Shaw’s bad attitude and lack of discipline were his own enemy, becoming major problems and real obstacles to his career. It should be noted that Shaw was also not sold in the IPL 2025 mega auction last month.
An MCA official signed off saying, “If you think that such posts on social media will have any impact on the voters of Mumbai and the MCA, you would be wrong. He is not properly following the prescribed fitness program at MCA Academy. I’ll tell you something. No one is Shawn’s enemy. He is his own enemy.”
