Sri Lanka T20I squad announced for New Zealand series, Dunith Wellalage omitted


On Wednesday, December 18, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) announced their strong squad for the upcoming T20I. series Against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

The New Zealand Sri Lanka tour consists of a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series. The first two T20I matches will be played at Mt Maunganui on December 28 and 30, while the third match will be hosted by Nelson on January 2.

After that two teams They will face each other in three ODIs on January 5, 8 and 11 in Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland.

SLC announces largely unchanged squad for T20I series

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) selection committee backed the players and named an unchanged squad from the home series against the Kiwis in November. Only Dunith Wellalage was dropped from the side.

Charith Asalanka will lead the side and will be supported by Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Kamindu Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal and Bhanuka Rajapaksa in the batting department.

What happened in the last series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand?

In November, Lanka Lions and Black Caps locked horns in a two-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series.
