Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden revealed the Premier League champions’ dressing room was “down and sad” after Sunday’s dramatic derby defeat to Manchester United.
Foden returned to City’s starting eleven afterwards recovering from an injurybut struggled to make an attacking impact in a largely stale contest. Pep GuardiolaThe team rarely came close to scoring again after Josko Gvardiol headed home Kevin De Bruyne’s deflected cross in the 36th minute.
United posed little perceptible threat, however took the three points with two goals in as many minutes at the death. Defeat leaves City Premier League title challenge in pieces and with just one win in 11 games in all competitions.
Reflecting immediately after the game, Foden sighed: “I can’t put my finger on what’s going on. I thought the performance was more than good to get the result, but we came away with no points, and it seems to be the same. story at this time.
“The dressing room will obviously be down and sad,” the foot he added, before offering some form of summons, “but we can’t dwell on it too much: we have to try to recover.

Foden’s team-mate Bernardo Silva was rather more blunt in his review of the match. The Portuguese midfielder hurt the City players for “stupid” mistakes and compared the reigning Premier League champions to an “under-15” team.
Guardiola, who has fallen in one pit of self-doubt during this disastrous run, he has a week off to rally his deflated troops before traveling to Birmingham to face Aston Villa on Saturday.
