Mariners GM reveals what the team is looking to add this offseason

The Seattle Mariners missed the mark for the second straight season, finishing with an 85-77 record.

In the last 23 seasons, the Mariners have only made the postseason once, finishing in the American League division series.

The Mariners will look to address their recent struggles this offseason by making possible moves to improve their roster.

Mariners GM Justin Hollander revealed what the team is looking to add this season.

“We’d like to add a first baseman,” Hollander said via Sirius XM’s MLB Network Radio.

Hollander says a first baseman would be their first choice to add in the offseason, but they could use some infielders if possible.

One name that comes up is Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas, who could be a trade target for starting pitcher Luis Castillo.

Hollander didn’t buy into this talk, as he noted what a great teammate Castillo is and that he enjoys being Castillo’s Marine.

In 2024, the Mariners finished second in the American League West, and they haven’t won a division title since 2001.

With plenty of good starting pitchers on their roster, the Mariners have good trade bait if they choose to go that route in an effort to improve their pitching and offense.

The Mariners have never won a World Series title, and they hope to add some key pieces this offseason to give the team a shot at the postseason in 2025.

Casas will be a name to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
