The New York Yankees are doing well after Juan Soto left them to sign with the New York Mets, as they have already moved quickly to sign free agent Max Fried and trade for closer Devin Williams.
The Yankees are reportedly not done yet and are expected to aggressively pursue another major free agent.
“The New York Yankees are now expected to field a full court to sign (Alex) Bregman and move Jazz Chisholm to second base,” wrote USA Today’s Bob Nightingale via Fireside Yankees .

The Yankees’ willingness to offer $760 million for Soto suggests they have plenty of money to spend, and landing Bregman wouldn’t even break what it would cost to keep Soto.
Bregman is one of the top free agents remaining and is more likely to leave the Houston Astros, where he won two World Series during his stellar nine-year tenure.
He would fit in seamlessly at third base in New York and allow Chisholm to return to his more natural position.
There is some cause for concern, as Bregman just posted the lowest OPS of his career at .768 and will likely be worth more than $150 million despite turning 31 before the 2025 season begins.
However, he would be a huge addition to the Yankees lineup and would bring some much needed depth and star power.
