This MLB offseason has been a hot one so far and has seen the biggest contract in sports history in the form of his 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets, but there’s still plenty of dust to settle before then sits down.
Another star player has been in the news recently in trade rumors, with the Houston Astros reportedly emerging as “serious suitors” for the perennial All-Star.
B/R Walk-Off shared at X that the Astros have become serious suitors for St. Louis Cardinals star third baseman Nolan Arenado, whose days in St. Louis appear to be coming to an end.

The Cardinals and Arenado both appear ready to move on from each other, as general manager John Mozeliak has made it clear that he will do his part in trying to trade Arenado, while noting that Arenado has not requested a trade.
Arenado, 33, saw his offensive output hit new lows in 2024 with just 16 home runs, 71 RBIs and just a .719 OPS, the lowest he’s posted since his rookie year in 2013.
He’ll be 34 at the start of next season, but many teams still believe they can get more out of him offensively, while he remains one of the best defensively.
Arenado could be a contingency plan if the Astros lose Alex Bregman in free agency, which seems more likely every day.
The Astros emerging as a suitor for Arenado is an interesting development that likely means they know something about Bregman’s next move, and we’ll see what happens next as this story continues to unfold.
