Chelsea have reportedly expressed an interest signing Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Chelsea have spent big on goalkeepers in recent years, but there are still doubts about their strength in the position, with current starter Robert Sanchez under fire for a series of errors in high-profile games this season .
Summer signing Filip Jorgensen has begun Chelseacup matches, but we still don’t have to enter the thinking of coach Enzo Maresca ahead of Sánchez.
Sky Sports Germany State-owned Chelsea are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper and have expressed an interest in Kobel, 27, with club officials reportedly unimpressed by either Sanchez or Jorgensen.
However, it’s worth noting that Maresca has continued to publicly support Sanchez despite his patchy form, even insisting ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Brentford that he has no plans to change goalkeepers.
“The idea is not to change,” said Maresca. “But also in this case, we have two goalkeepers who are good. Until they maintain the same level, we are happy with that.”
The report also talks of Chelsea’s ongoing interest in winger Karim Adeyemi, whose new agent Ali Barat has close links with the Blues.
Adeyemi was a target during the summer, but Chelsea opted to strengthen with the signings of Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho.
