WSL Predictions: Gameweek 10

The final week of the 2024 Women’s Super League (WSL) is here and clubs will be desperate to end the year on a positive note.

Chelsea they currently lead the way at the top of the table, but people like Manchester City, arsenal i Manchester United they are not far behind. At the other end, Leicester City and Crystal Palace are last on the same number of points, but there are at least five more clubs at risk of being dragged into the battle with one or two poor results.

There are some big games this weekend, including Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to top-flight Brighton, Aston Villa host West Ham at Villa Park, while Liverpool also play Arsenal.

So, for the last time this year, 90 minutes they have predicted the results of each WSL game this weekend…

It’s a tough end to the year for Amandine Miquel’s Leicester City as they host league leaders Chelsea at the King Power Stadium. The London club have won all nine games so far, so it’s hard to predict anything other than a Chelsea win this weekend.

The Foxes are currently bottom of the table with just five points to their name and have won just one WSL game all season. Sonia Bompastor’s team should win it quite comfortably.

Prediction: Leicester City 0-5 Chelsea

This game is much harder to call, but that said, Brighton are in good form at the moment. Although they were beaten by Chelsea last time out in the league, they caused all sorts of problems for the champions and looked like they could make a stunning comeback at one point.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are sixth in the table and have won just three of their nine games. They managed a narrow win over Everton last time out so will be full of confidence on Saturday evening.

Given that Brighton have made a habit of beating teams outside the traditional top four this season, they should have enough to get over the line this time around to finish the year strongly.

Prediction: Brighton 3-2 Tottenham

Everton have looked difficult to break down at times as Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United struggled to score against them. However, they are scoring very little themselves and only Leicester City have found the back of the net less than Brian Sorensen’s side in the first nine games.

While Manchester City have Champions League games to consider, including one next week in Barcelona, they have enough depth to get through this run of games unscathed. It might not be as big a win as some would hope, but City will claim all three points at Walton Hall Park.

Prediction: Everton 0-2 Manchester City

This is an absolute must win for both teams as they look to move further away from the relegation spot. They are just one point below as things stand.

Aston Villa were comfortably beaten by Arsenal last time out, while West Ham came from behind to claim a big win against Crystal Palace. Rehanne Skinne’s side will no doubt be brimming with confidence ahead of Sunday’s encounter at Villa Park, with the hosts having managed just one home win in the league this season.

It will be a fairly even game for that reason, but Villa may have enough to pull it off with the support of their home support.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 West Ham

After last week’s agonizing defeat against West Ham, it may be too much to ask for Crystal Palace to bounce back against Manchester United. Marc Skinner’s side aren’t necessarily in scintillating form this season, but they are finally getting the results they need.

Palace have struggled massively against top teams this season with big defeats against Chelsea and City. Unfortunately, United at home will probably be no different and they will have to dust themselves off and be back in the new year.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-5 Manchester United

After such a positive 2023/24 campaign, it has been a disappointing start to the new season for Liverpool. Despite sitting seventh in the table, the Reds are just four points off the bottom and risk being dragged into an unwanted relegation battle if they can’t start getting results.

Given the way last week’s defeat to United played out, Arsenal pose an equal threat and have been in excellent form since Renee Slegers took over as interim manager at October It’s hard to see Liverpool getting anything out of this game as they look a shadow of the team that caused problems for all the top teams last season.

Prediction: Liverpool 0-3 Arsenal
