Liverpool are reportedly planning talks with Brighton & Hove Albion over a deal sign striker Joao Pedro.
Pedro, 23, has four goals and three assists in nine games for Brighton, dazzling under new manager Fabian Hurzeler to guide the Seagulls into the race for European qualification. They currently sit seventh, but are just three points behind Manchester City in fourth.

The Reds expect tricky negotiations with Brighton and are therefore willing to open talks during the January transfer window, with a view to bringing Pedro to Anfield at the end of the campaign.
Also complicating Liverpool’s pursuit is rival interest Manchester United. Erik ten Hag and Dan Ashworth are known to have been big admirers of Pedro and the Red Devils’ interest is believed to continue even now that both men have left the club.
Liverpool have a long history with Pedro. In the summer of 2019, they were reported to have made a final move to sign him from Fluminense ahead of his pre-agreed move to Watford.
There were claims that Liverpool’s hierarchy were concerned about signing players directly from South America, leading to backroom conflict and the eventual collapse of a potential move for Pedro.
Now, however, they seem willing to move for Pedro, who has certainly established himself as aa Premier League talent since his move to Brighton.
Described as a ‘9.5’ – a striker who likes to drop deep to help build himself up – Pedro’s style fits perfectly with Arne Slot’s tactics at Liverpool. The Dutch coach is yet to find his undisputed starting striker, with Luis DÃaz, Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota all at the top of his team’s sheet this season.
