“This motherfucker had to kill me to stop me”: Tim Tszyu opens up about loss and redemption

Tim Tszyu broke his silence after a brutal third-round knockout and exposed the toll of his second career loss. Talk to Fox News Australiathe Aussie fighter revealed harrowing details about his physical and emotional recovery. “I couldn’t feel my legs, and my brain was fuzzy. Every shot I got hit with felt like a bomb going off,” Tszyu said, recalling the fight. “In my head I thought, ‘This motherfucker is going to have to kill me to get me out of here.’

The fight ended with Tszyu knocked down four times and suffering his first concussion. He spent the night in the hospital and could not sleep. “It was a strange feeling,” he said. “What burns me is that I could not show myself. I just got humiliated and embarrassed in front of the whole world.”

Tszyu’s fiancé, Alex, added to the sting of the defeat, but endured the vile abuse from trolls. “People say things to her and stuff like that, but the fact that she can handle it shows her character,” he said. “Not to my teacher, not to my family. It’s not right.”

Despite the setbacks, Tszyu remains defiant. “I don’t know how many times I was knocked down, but no matter what, I would always get back up. I was ready to die in there,” he said.

Now Tszyu wants to reconnect with his roots and Australian fans. “I want to take it back from the old school—no technology, no statistics, no numbers. Just pure grinding. I feel like I left my Aussie fans behind to chase the stars,” he admitted. “Australia has always been in my heart.”

And he couldn’t help chasing American coffee: “You can’t get good coffee in Vegas. I missed my dog, my teacher, the fresh Aussie air and my local coffee shop.”
