Chris Russo Warns Not to Sleep on MLB 1st Team Juan Soto

The lottery for Juan Soto appears to be winding down, with five teams reportedly still in the mix to land the free agent for a potential record deal.

Journalists at all levels are trying to leak any information they can get their hands on, but no one knows what to believe at this point.

However, Chris Russo cautions people not to “sleep” on one team landing an expensive All-Star.

As he’s been saying all week, Russo appeared on the latest episode of “Hot Furnace” with Harold Reynolds and Matt Vasgersian on MLB Network and said, “Don’t sleep on the Red Sox” as a potential landing spot for Soto.

The general consensus was that the New York Yankees and New York Mets were the top two candidates to sign Soto.

He just reached the World Series with the Yankees, while Mets owner Steve Cohen has reportedly been open about his willingness to hand Soto a blank check.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays appear to be the two teams willing to throw any amount of money at Soto, but the Red Sox have been in the dark during the process.

Soto grew up a Red Sox fan and is David Ortiz’s neighbor in the Dominican Republic.

Even after several seasons of being thrifty enough to anger their fan base, the Red Sox appear ready to spend big.

Soto could be closing in on a decision before the winter meetings, and the Red Sox are still in the mix.
