Free agent Juan Soto is currently enjoying his offseason meeting with MLB’s richest teams and awaiting offers from all the teams believed to be still in the mix, including the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Boston Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
At just 26 years old and having done so much already, many are wondering what kind of record deal Soto could get, with one analyst predicting people will be “shocked.”
On a recent episode of Foul Territory, former catcher and current analyst AJ Pierzynski said:

Shohei Ohtani set a record last season with a $700 million contract that included plenty of deferred money, but Soto, who is just 26 and has a skill set that typically ages well, could earn him a bigger deal.
With the five biggest spenders all in a bidding war, and at least one team from the Mets open about the fact that they’ll essentially hand Soto a blank check and refuse to be traded, it looks more and more likely that Soto will eclipse $700 million.
Soto is one of the best hitters of his generation, but right now his salary could be a “shocking” $750-800 million, which is hard to even fathom.
Even at that price, given Soto’s age, it may not be overpaying for a player like him.
