MLB Insider says 1 Cardinals player is likely to be traded this offseason

The St. Louis Cardinals and their fans are accustomed to a winning culture with 11 World Series titles in franchise history.

However, things haven’t been going the Cardinals’ way lately, as they missed the postseason for the second straight year in 2024.

The Cardinals are reportedly cleaning house ahead of the 2025 season and are going to focus on developing their young talent in the farm system.

Because of that approach, one of the Cardinals’ big-name players is reportedly likely to be traded this offseason.

“Nolan Arenado is more likely to be traded than to stay with the Cardinals in 2025,” per Katie Wu of The Athletic via B/R Walk-Off .

Arenado is a 33-year-old third baseman who broke into the majors in 2013 with the Colorado Rockies and spent eight seasons with them before playing the last four with the Cardinals.

The eight-time All-Star had another productive season in 2024, playing in 152 games and hitting .272 with 16 home runs, 71 RBIs and a .719 OPS.

Arenado will likely be of interest to many teams in need of a third baseman, especially if they have a young team that would benefit from a veteran presence on the clubhouse.

The Cardinals appear to be hitting the reset button before the 2025 season, and it will be interesting to see how their fans react to this decision.

With plenty of trade candidates and a free agent class loaded with talent, this offseason should remain exciting for the foreseeable future.
