Analyst believes 1 MLB team is a good matchup for Corbin Burns

The San Francisco Giants finished 2024 with an 80-82 record, which resulted in them missing the postseason for the third straight time.

After winning three World Series titles in five seasons from 2010 to 2014, the Giants made the postseason twice in the next 10 seasons.

The Giants also lost a key starting pitcher to free agency this offseason, as Blake Snell signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After losing Snell, the Giants could be looking for a replacement in this year’s free agent class, and MLB analyst John Morosi said Corbin Burns would be a good fit.

“The Giants have some significant interest in Corbin Burns,” Morosi said, via MLB Network.

Burns debuted with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018 and played six seasons before leaving for the Baltimore Orioles for the 2024 campaign.

Morosi notes that the Giants are the closest National League team to where Burns grew up, which could make for an interesting landing spot for them.

Since 2020, Burns has the second-best ERA in the majors at 2.94, behind only Max Fried of the Atlanta Braves, who is also a free agent this offseason.

In 2024, Burns started 32 games and posted a 15-9 record with a 2.92 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 194.1 innings.

The Giants have eight World Series titles in franchise history, but they will need to make some moves to keep up with the Dodgers in the National League West.

It will be interesting to see if Burns returns to the National League in 2025 with the Giants.
