Arsenal are making a new contract for midfielder Ethan Nwaneri a priority at the moment as they know they cannot afford to sit still on these matters.

That’s according to Charles Watts when he spoke exclusively Caught offside for his latest Daily Briefing column, with the reporter too praising Nwaneri for fully deserving a reward for its good form.

TEN clubs are chasing the signing of the Arsenal star!

The 17-year-old already signed a professional contract earlier this year, but Watts has confirmed that he is likely to secure another new and improved contract after his excellent impact on Mikel Arteta’s first team this season

Nwaneri is the latest talent to emerge from Arsenal’s academy, following other success stories such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe in recent years.

The England youth international looks like he could really have a very special career ahead of him, so it’s no surprise that Arsenal want to do everything they can to make sure he doesn’t take any chances on his future.

Ethan Nwaneri contract update

A new contract for Ethan Nwaneri It’s certainly something on Arsenal’s agenda right now,” said Watts.

“The club is happy with the work done in rewarding its players over the last two years, but is well aware that it cannot afford to sit still when it comes to contracts.

“Nwaneri only signed his first professional contract in March but his progress since then has been rapid with the 17-year-old already scoring four goals in 11 games this season.

“There is no rush to extend his deal, but Arsenal’s approach to signings in recent years has been to ensure players are rewarded for their performances and their position in the squad.

“Nwaneri has already become a key part of Arteta’s squad and Arsenal will be looking to reward him for that, with discussions understood to be ongoing over a new deal.

“And when you look at what he’s doing and how talented he is, it’s impossible to say he doesn’t deserve it.”
