ICC punishes Zimbabwe’s Shaun Williams for breach of Code of Conduct


Zimbabwe National Cricket Team player Shaun Williams came under the scanner after his performance in the second ODI against Pakistan National Cricket Team. The batsman has been punished by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching the code of conduct.

Zimbabwe National Cricket Team batsman Shaun Williams has been found guilty of breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Workers. He violated Article 2.8 on “Protesting the Referee’s decision during an International Game”.

The Zimbabwean batsman expressed his disappointment with the umpire after Saim Ayuba was adjudged lbw in the second ODI against Pakistan.

The incident took place during the 26th over of Zimbabwe’s second ODI against the Pakistan National Cricket Team. Batsman Saim Ayub expressed disappointment with the umpire after he was adjudged lbw. He showed his bat to the official, which he didn’t like.

In addition to breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, Shaun Williams was also given one demerit point for his disciplinary record. It was his first offense in 24 months and thus he was not severely punished by the International Cricket Council.

Sean Williams pleaded guilty to the crime and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft, the ICC Elite Panel of Referees.

Under the ICC Code of Conduct, Level 1 offenses carry a maximum penalty of 50% of the player’s match fee, along with a minimum official reprimand and one or two demerit points.

On-field referees Michael Gough and Forster Mutizwa, along with third official Iknow Chabi and fourth official Langton Rusere, equalised. Shaun Williams admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Peacroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Umpires Panel. Therefore, there was no need for formal hearings.

Pakistan registered a 10-wicket win in the second ODI against Zimbabwe

Coming in between the second ODI teamsPakistan National Cricket Team drew series after their shambolic loss in the first ODI. The two teams clashed in the second leg at Queens Park in Bulawayo on Tuesday (November 26).

Pakistan cruised to a 10-wicket win after bowling out Zimbabwe National Cricket Team for just 145 runs. Abrar Ahmed Salman Ali Agha picked four wickets while taking three wickets as the visitors ended the opposition’s innings in 33 overs. Dion Myers (33) and Sean Williams (31) were the top rushers for the team.

In the chase, the Pakistan National Cricket Team put up a relentless effort. Opening batsman Saim Ayub went on a rampage and hit the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team bowlers all over the park. He hit the pitch and dominated the little chase.

Saim Ayub finished with an unbeaten innings of 113 runs from 62 balls with 17 fours and 3 sixes. Abdullah Shafiq (32*) supported him well as the Pakistan National Cricket Team completed the chase in just 18.2 overs to level the three-match series 1-1.
