Mumbai beat Chennai and Punjab to win the bidding war for Deepak Chahar

Notably, Mumbai Indians (MI) bought Deepak Chahar after an intense bidding war during the IPL 2025 mega auction. Punjab Kings (PBKS) initially joined the bidding, but backed out when the price reached INR 8 crore, and Mumbai and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) battled it out on the second day of the mega auction.

Chahar’s base price was INR 2 crore, with Mumbai making the opening bid. Punjab entered with INR 2.2 crore but they pulled out after the price reached INR 7.5 crore. Chennai then joined the bidding raising the price to INR 9 crore, with Mumbai at INR 9.25 sealing the deal.
