Artur Beterbiev asked his followers on X today if there should be a rematch between him and Dmitri Bivol. Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KOs) beat former WBA light welterweight champion Bivol (23-1, 12 KOs) by a questionable 12-round majority decision on Oct. 12 in Riyadh.
Bivol’s fans and promoter Eddie Hearn have been moaning about the results ever since. Hearn wants the Beterbiev-Bivol rematch on February 22 on the huge Riyadh Season card being put together.
Hearn is pretty bitter about Bivol losing, and feels like he got a raw deal. Bivol lost his nerve for the fight after Beterbiev took the fight to him in the seventh.
The scores:
– 115-113
– 116-112
– 114-114
“I believe Dmitri Bivol will become undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world in the rematch,” said Eddie Hearn. TNT Sportsupset about his fighter, Bivol, who lost to Beterbiev.
“The whole world will want to see it again … everyone I know who knows boxing won Bivol.” We take the result on the chin, but you can’t just stand back … in moments of generational big fights like that, you have to get it right.”
