Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City suffered a shock 4-0 defeat against Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium.
It was Man City’s fifth defeat in a row in all competitions and the result showed that the Premier League champions are going through a crisis at the moment.
It’s strange to say this about Guardiola’s Man City, but nothing has worked for them recently and their performances have gone from bad to worse.
It won’t get any easier for them in the coming weeks as they face Arne Slot’s leaders Liverpool at Anfield next weekend.
Goals from James Maddison, Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson inflicted a heavy defeat on Guardiola and his team against their bogey side Tottenham.
The Spaniard reserved praise for two players in particular after the defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
After the game, speaking to reporters, the Man City coach reportedly said Football TBR:
“Well, 0-4, nothing to say good about.
“Congratulations Tottenham.
“Now we’re a little fragile. We started really well and we couldn’t score. And the first time they come (to our box) they score.
“Of course the quality of Kulusevski and Maddison was good.”
Man City are going through their worst form since 2006 and seeing that being under Guardiola is not normal.
The Spaniard has raised the level of the club so much that it seems strange to see them lose five games in a row.
Pep Guardiola is going through his worst form in the Premier League
After winning four Premier League titles in a row, the Sky Blues were expected to win the league again this season, but their current form and Liverpool’s start to the season have turned things around on the football landscape in Premier League.
Guardiola had never suffered five consecutive defeats in his managerial career but now faces the difficult task of pulling the club out of crisis as they challenge again on all fronts this season.
The absence of Rodri, who will be sidelined for the entire season, has exposed the Premier League winners in a way no one expected.
It is still too early to write off Guardiola and his Man City team as they have shown many times in the past that they can come back to win it all in the end.
