The 2024 Major League Baseball season is over and the free agent market is heating up as teams prepare for the 2025 season.

While there is plenty of talent in this year’s free agent class, there are plenty of available players missing at the shortstop position.

One free agent stands out among the rest as Willie Adams of the Milwaukee Brewers sees his stock rise.

MLB analyst CJ Nitkowski addressed the heating up of the Adames market this offseason.

“He’s sitting at the top right now because that shortstop position is so thin,” Nitkowski said.

Adames entered the league with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018, where he played for three seasons before going to the Brewers during the 2021 season.

In 2024, Adames played all but one game for the Brewers and batted .251 with 32 home runs, 112 RBI and a .794 OPS.

Not only is Adames only 29 years old and one of the few available, but he also had career highs in home runs, RBIs, stolen bases, hits, doubles and runs scored in 2024.

Nitkowski believes Adames will fit in well with the club no matter where he goes, and that there will be plenty of interest in him.

Past reports have indicated that Adames is even willing to switch positions and play second base if he joins a team that already has a beefed-up shortstop.

It’s unclear if the Brewers will be one of the teams trying to sign Adames this offseason, but even if they are, there will be plenty of competition.
