Crawford’s WILD claim: 90,000 fans in Nebraska?

Terence Crawford boasted on social media today that he was going to “make history” and could a crowd of 90,000 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska. Given that the stadium has ONLY seats 85 458it would appear that Crawford is making up nonsense out of thin air. I just wonder why he didn’t say 200,000.

Crawford says he will make history, but the way things look, he may never fight again. Promoter Eddie Hearn and trainer Robert Garcia believe the 37-year-old Crawford could retire if he can’t get the Canelo Alvarez fight.

Is Crawford losing touch?

This fantasy world claim by Crawford of 90,000 fans packing Memorial Stadium is alarming because it literally has no chance of happening in this lifetime.

No one popular in the sport would be willing to go out of their way to fight Crawford on his home turf off the beaten path in an area like Lincoln, Nebraska. Out of the areas in the US a superstar fighter can go to, choosing Nebraska will be the last long on the list.

Assuming Crawford is serious, he didn’t bother to mention who he would fight to bring in that crowd. It certainly won’t be Canelo Alvarez because he’s not interested in fighting him unless he’s paid $150 million.

Memorial Stadium fighters needed

  1. Canelo Alvarez
  2. Jake Paul
  3. Jaron Ennis
  4. Artur Beterbiev

The only fighters popular enough to help Crawford sell out a big venue like Memorial Stadium are Canelo or maybe Jake Paul. Crawford wasn’t going to get Jake to throw him a leg by fighting him, especially not in Lincoln.

It’s not like Crawford would be the best with Jake if the YouTuber were interested, and there certainly isn’t. Why on earth would Jake Paul want to waste a good fight to come to Lincoln to face a guy only heard of hardcore boxing?

If Crawford wanted to keep fans interested in his career, he would be busier, fighting three times a year and moving up to 168 to take on the big dogs. Since he’s not going to do it, all this nonsense about making history is a sign that Crawford is living in his fantasy world.
