The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking for a new white-ball coach after former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten stepped down last month. According to recent reports, Aaqib Javed, the current chief selector, has emerged as a strong candidate to take over as the white-ball coach.

According to Samaa TV sports journalist Qadir Khawaja, Aaqib Javed is set to be appointed as the new white ball head coach of the team.

The third and final T20I match of the ongoing series between the Pakistan cricket team and the Australian cricket team will be played at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday, November 18. The PCB will also have to announce the white ball coach for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe.

Aaqib Javed, umpire Aleem Dar and former captain Azhar Ali were appointed selectors after losing the first Test against England. Also, Aaqib Javed, who was part of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning team, had an outstanding career playing 163 ODIs and 22 Tests with 236 international wickets. He also led Pakistan’s U19 team to World Cup victory in 2004 and served as bowling coach during Pakistan’s 2009 ICC T20 World Cup triumph. Javed was recently replaced by Darren Gough as the head coach of Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
