Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been embroiled in an ongoing verbal spat between the head coach of the Indian national cricket team. Gautam Gambhir and Australian National Cricket Team legend Ricky Ponting.
Michael Vaughan also gave the Indian coach a stern warning that tough times lie ahead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

The issue between Ricky Ponting and Gautam Gambhir started after the former commented on the form of struggling Indian batsman Virat Kohli.

When Gautam Gambhir was asked if he was worried about Ponting’s comments and Kohli’s form, the Indian coach exploded.
He said that Ponting has nothing to do with Indian cricket and should only comment on Australian cricket. The Australian legend hit back at Gambhir and doubled down on his comments.

Michael Vaughan then urged the Indian coach to learn how to play the game in the media as he is part of the leadership team in Indian cricket.
“I will like Gautam Gambhir as a coach because he is spicy. I think he’s going to have to learn to play the game a little bit more in the leadership position that he’s in at times,” Vaughan said on Australian great Matthew Hayden’s and the Club’s Prairie Fire podcast.
