Virat Kohli’s form woes are linked to alleged rifts with Rohit Sharam, Gautam Gambhir ahead of BGT 2024-25.

Former Australian cricketer Brendon Julian has stunned the cricketing world by hinting at possible rifts in the Indian cricket team’s dressing room ahead of the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 starting in Perth on November 22.

Brendon Julian has made shocking revelations claiming that batting icon Virat Kohli is not the same as India captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. This statement might rekindle old memories of Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir’s past.

India’s hopes in the high-tension five-match Test series rest on Kohli, known for his fierce competitiveness and exceptional record on Australian soil. Well, Brendon Julian’s claim comes at a time when Kohli’s form has been far from his usual caliber under Gambhir.

After a poor Test series against New Zealand in which Virat Kohli managed just 93 runs in six innings at home, concerns are mounting with Julian clearly questioning whether key rifts within Team India have affected the dashing right-hander’s recent performances.

Julian suggested that the once indomitable spirit of the Indian cricket team may be showing cracks. The former Australian bowler believes that the former India captain’s recent struggles could be more than just a dip in form but a reflection of strained relationships behind closed doors, particularly with new coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma.

Virat Kohli at odds with captain and coach: Brendon Julian

Julian highlighted his concerns about Virat Kohli’s current form, saying the Indian batting maestro is struggling to find rhythm and is probably not quite in sync with Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma.

However, Julian believes Kohli has the ability to make a comeback in the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and if he regains his momentum quickly in Perth, the situation could spiral out of Australia’s control.

Brendon Julian was quoted by Fox Cricket as saying: “Virat Kohli’s performance against New Zealand – the way he did in the Test series was unbelievable. Kohli is not at his best. He probably doesn’t speak to the captain and the coach, but once he does, he can turn around quickly. But if they start filming in Perth, I think it’s all over.”

Aussies to clean India in 4 days: Julian

Meanwhile, Julian predicted an easy four-day win for Australia in the upcoming Perth Test. He noted that Indian captain Rohit Sharma could be out of the first Test and that Jasprit Bumrah will step up as captain, adding that despite his ability to lead the team while opening the bowling, he brings unique challenges.

Julian further remarked, “Aussies will clean India in 4 days. There are troubling signs for India directly above. Rohit Sharma not playing first Test; came out and said that. So, Jasprit Bumrah will captain the side. Now when you’re an opener, it’s a lot of pressure. He is a fine bowler; there is no doubt about it. But suddenly when you open the bowling and captain the side, it’s a whole different ball game.
