West Indies post a competitive total
Asked to bat first, West Indies posted a respectable total of 182 for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Wicket Keeper inclined Nicholas Pooran top scored with a steady 38 off 29 balls which included two fours and three powerful sixes.
However, England’s bowlers dominated most of the innings, preventing the West Indies line-up from really hitting the stride in the later innings. Phil Salt hits a fiery century in England’s reply
In reply, England fired back with Phil Salt and the openers Jacob Bethell displays a strong hitting screen. Dooz was in superb form and tore apart the West Indies bowling attack with a breathtaking century off just 54 balls. His knock of 103 included nine fours and six sixes, showing his intent and strength as he found gaps and cleared the strings with effort. Bethell provided ably support with 58 off 36 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes to keep the pressure on the West Indies bowlers.
despite his efforts Gudakesh Movement and Romario ShepherdWest Indies, who took a wicket each, struggled to contain Salt and Bethell as their partnership put England in a commanding position and enabled them. Easily reach the target in the 17th over, finishing with 183/2.
Salt’s strike earned him the Man of the Match award and England took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
