In a significant announcement for Afghan cricket, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) CEO confirmed that the all-rounder. ACB CEO Naseeb Khan said Nabi’s retirement will take effect after the Champions Trophy, stressing that the decision was taken after extensive discussions with the player. A cornerstone of Afghanistan’s cricketing success since its rise on the international stage, Nabi has expressed his desire to focus on T20 formats while contributing to the development of cricket in Afghanistan.
“Yes, Nabi is quitting ODIs after the Champions Trophy and he has expressed his desire to the board” Khan said cricbuzz. He added that “My understanding after the Champions Trophy is that he is expected to continue his T20 career and that is the plan so far.”
