Former Manchester United winger Nani has insisted Ruben Amorim has all the qualities needed to be a success at Old Trafford.
Amorim was named United’s next boss on Fridayjust hours before his Sporting CP side faced an Estrela side led by 37-year-old Nani, who enjoyed eight years of success at United between 2007 and 2015.
“All I can say is good luck,” Nani said sports TV when asked for a verdict on Amorim’s impending move to united.
“He has done an excellent job at Sporting, and I hope he can do the same at United, which is a great club, one of the best clubs in the world.
“I think he’s in a great place, he’ll have a chance with excellent players to give a strong response, as he has all the conditions to do so.”
Another former United star, Rio Ferdinand, did just that social networks to reveal his own conversation with Nani about Amorim’s appointment.
“I spoke to Nani the other day and he said ‘Rio, whatever you want to talk about, tactics or whatever, the players play for him, love him and respect him’,” Ferdinand revealed.
“One of the problems I think with Erik ten Hag and what (Nani) said about Amorim is that he is very straight, very direct and very direct.
“From what I’m hearing, I’m talking to people who have played for (Amorim) but also been around (Amorim) as a human, I think the character and the charisma compared to Erik ten Hag will be the big differentiator. It will be the big difference.”
