You missed the green, find some deep rough only from the placement surface. This is not the time to rely on your quick cut method. Dealing with harsh shots in short bursts is not always easy, especially if there are particles involved, either with you or against you. Here is the smart game.
First, you need to position the ball farther into your stance. If you’re like most players, you put the ball in the middle. On chips from the rough, place just in front of your back foot.
As you can see in the photo above, I’m hanging my wedge off my nose to show in the middle of my stance with the ball clearly behind it.
As for the swing, picture taking the club with your hands and then smashing the ball. Combining this movement with the back ball position will limit the amount of time the club interacts with the grass. As always, it’s a good idea to take a few practice chops to see how much power you need to navigate the cabbage.
