The Women’s Big Head League (WBBL) 2024 Sydney Sixers had a thrilling run at the Adelaide Oval where they registered a thrilling three-wicket win over Melbourne Renegades, successfully chasing down a challenging target of 179.
Courtney Webb and Georgia Wareham take Melbourne Renegades to 178/8
The Sixers won the toss and chose to bowl first, testing the Renegades’ batting line-up. Renegades started with steady contributions from the top order where Courtney Webb scored 39 off 43 including 6 fours. However, it was Georgia Wareham who took center stage with an explosive knock of 61 off 31 balls. Chasing 179, the Sixers got off to a solid start with the help of captain Ellyse Perry. Hollie Armitage. The Renegades bowlers fought back, with Wareham again shining as he claimed 3 wickets for 26 runs in his 3 overs. Alice Capsey also made an impact, taking 2/22 from her 3 overs. Their efforts created some nervy moments for the Sixers, but Sarah Bryce’s no-nonsense knockdown in the 36th saw them over the finish line.
