Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) took a crucial pole position after setting 1:34.728 at the PT Grand Prix of Thailand. A potential title decider at the Chang International Circuit, Ogura will qualify ahead of Aaron Canet (Fantic Racing). The Spaniard took second place and now faces a tough task to keep his title hopes alive after losing pole due to a mistake in the final sector. Canet joins Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team) on the front row of the grid after the Brazilian’s impressive time left him 0.074s off P1.

It was a tough practice 2 session to start on Saturday, with Ai Ogura (MT Helmets – MSI) dominating the standings and 0.247s ahead of the field. It was a packed Q1 session, with home hero Somkyat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) among the names forced to fight for a place in the top four. Then in Q1, Chantra gained time in Q2 with Darin Binder (Leaky Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), Sergio Garcia (MT Helmets – MSI) and Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team’s Ayumu Sasaki taking the place at home.

As Q2 went green, it was a strong early pace from Ogura, repeating the pace of the #79 on Saturday morning with Sasaki in his shadow. It was soon to be a busy final five minutes, with improvements coming up the pitch and Kanet starting to make improvements. Red sectors began to appear, with Canet unable to gain more time on the final flying lap moments later in the final corner.

Tony Arbolino (Elf Mark VDS Racing Team) finished Q2 in fourth place, but the Italian must serve a three-place grid penalty after his incident on Friday. The #14 session capped off a great weekend in Thailand ahead of Marcos Ramirez of the next OnlyFans American Racing team. Ramírez would finish fifth in the session, ahead of Philippe Salac (Elf Mark VDS Racing Team), who set the sixth fastest time of the session.

Albert Arenas (Gresini Moto2™) had a strong Q2, working hard to finish seventh on the timesheet, the #75 managing to move up to the second row due to Arbolino’s penalty. Meanwhile, Fermin Aldeguer (Beta Tools Speedup) starts on the third row, unable to find more time to fight for Pole. After charging through Q1, the #54 set a strong qualifying ahead of Garcia. Further back, Chantra starts from 13th on the grid, with Alonso Lopez (Beta Equipment Speedup) only managing P14.
