Liverpool will be without goalkeeper Alisson Becker until the November international break, but there are now fears the Brazilian could be out of action for longer than expected.
The 32-year-old is an important part of Arne Slot’s side and started six of the Reds’ first seven Premier League games for the Dutch manager.
However, Alisson missed Chelsea’s clash last time out as the former Roma star injured his hamstring in Liverpool’s game with Crystal Palace before the last international break. This forced the Brazilian international off the pitch and it is believed that the goalkeeper will be sidelined until the international break in November.
Ahead of a big week for Liverpool, in which the Merseyside club play RB Leipzig and Arsenal, Football Insider reports that there is a fresh injury scare involving Alisson.
Behind the scenes at Anfield, the Brazilian star is believed not to return until December as the Premier League giants take extra precaution due to the 32-year-old’s injury problems.
Alisson has now missed 40 games through injury over the past five seasons, more than any other Premier League goalkeeper, which is an issue the Reds are investigating.
Liverpool investigate Alisson Becker’s injury history
Speaking to the press last week, Arne Slot admitted Liverpool are looking into Alisson’s injury history and they try to rectify it before it goes back into action.
“For me, it’s common because the goalkeeper I had at Feyenoord also had problems with muscle injuries, but it’s not something you see a lot. They are the exception,” said the Dutch coach via The Athletic.
“Yeah, we’re looking into what the reason might be. One of the things we all know is that if you have one, the chances of getting another always increase. We’ve tried to be very careful with it.”
Injuries remain a major concern for Alisson and despite being a major star at Anfield, the 32-year-old should be worried about the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili next summer.
