The New York Mets were eliminated from the 2024 postseason after losing the National League Championship Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Now that the season is over, the Mets will focus on the offseason, which includes many of their key players entering free agency.
Major League Baseball analyst Jon Heyman revealed the questions facing the Mets, including free agents Sean Manayan, Jose Quintana, Luis Severino and Pete Alonso.
“They need to rebuild the pitching staff,” Heyman said.

The Mets have three of their top veteran pitchers entering free agency this offseason, and Heyman seems to believe Manaya is a potential waiver wire.
Severino and Quintana have had exceptional postseasons and it will take some money to keep them in New York.
Overall, Heyman believes the Bigs need at least three starters next season, and that’s before even getting to the subject of Alonso.
Heyman notes that if Alonso hadn’t had the postseason performance he had, the odds of him returning would be almost zero percent.
Alonso is a hometown hero for Mets fans and has had some clutch home runs this postseason that seemed to be lacking during the regular season.
It will be interesting to see how the Bigs attack free agency this offseason and who they decide to spend their money on.
Some have hinted at the possibility of superstar Juan Soto joining the Mets from the New York Yankees.
