Erin, Wis. – We are (ready) at the point of half the way of US Women Openand mai saigo, a lim kim and Nelly cord Highlight the top of the driver. The main championships cannot be won on Friday, but they may be lost. And for those who lost the cut in Erin Hills, their hopes of raising the trophy come on Sunday.
We had a little weather rotation across Erin Hills on Friday evening so the cut will not officially be done until Saturday morning. But with most of the field finished with their second rounds, we have a good idea of where the cut will be.
With the top 60 places and the links that make the weekend, it looks like the cut will be done in one or two to gather. We will not officially know where the line will fall until Saturday morning, but we can probably say that someone three or worse will not be around for the weekend.
Look below for a list of seven big names that will miss the weekend in Erin Hills.
Lexi Thompson
What she shot: 73-74 (+3)
Thompson emotionally announced her “pension” (or partial retirement) last summer of Open women’s women as she said goodbye to this USGA championship. But after playing well in limited beginnings this spring, she qualified in the field based on her Rolex ranking. However, her week in Erin Hills will be shortened as she posted three to 36 holes.
Jennifer Kupcho
What she shot: 76-71 (+3)
Kupcho put himself after eight balls with a four-top 76 in round 1 and that hole proved to be too deep to dig. She played Golf Solid on Friday and posted a sub-parish round, but after Thursday’s fighting, she will not be around the weekend.
Hail
What she shot: 69-78 (+3)
The Open-Up Women’s 2021 runner was in the main position to make a run in the title after posting 69 in Round 1 to sit only one blow from the superiority, but its second round was a unclear disaster. With eight bogeys and only two birds, she posted six in 78 to cut her short week.
Jeeno thitikul
What she shot: 75-72 (+3)
The curious case of Jeeno Thitikul continues. Despite being the best undisputed player in the world (after Nelly Korda), Thiticul has never been able to understand how to win a major. In just 22 years old, she has a lot of time to knock on one, but for now she remains the best player she has never won a major.
Leona Maguire
What she shot: 76-72 (+4)
Maguire is a Solheim Cup whistle, but that match game skill does not translate into diplomas. This marks its fourth cutting lost on a major during its seven past starts.
Brooke Henderson
What she shot: 75-75 (+6)
Henderson is a great winner twice, but the opening of American women has always seemed to deceive it. It has only three Top-10 conclusions on 13 Starters and has never ended better than T5. If she ever wins this title, she will have to wait another year.
Lilia vu
What she shot: 80-82 (+18)
Vu’s performance is probably more striking for anyone in the field. As a big winner twice, whenever she removes it, she is a threat to win. This week, however, was not the case. With two rounds in the 1980s, it only best a player in the whole field.
