Scottie Scheffler, Shane Lowry and Rory Mcilroy in Oakmont.
peacock
Hello friends and happy Thursday from a lot of hot We open! I spent the day rolling between air conditioning media centerCourse and practice fields here in Oakmont. I will admit I was a little worried this morning when 23 players were under the same time but things have been equal and oakT is definitely showing her teeth.
Like the rest of the world, I hoped the course would play hard this week for several reasons. One, we do not see many winning results around before these days. Two, the player reacts. My apologies for the best in the world but is FUN to see the good fight there. The rest of us do it every day, so by seeing our favorite players dealing with a little disappointment there is good for the soul.
So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the most relevant moments from the US Open Round 1.
Wake up to Trent Phillips
Trent Phillips was in the first group in it Oakmont Thursday morning. He withdrew at 6:45 am and by 7:08 am his video below was simply barely making his way from a terrible lie of the hit bunker online.
It didn’t take long for Oakmont to get his first victim, but you know what? This should inspire us all. Who of us has not faced a weak bunker issue just minutes after starting a round?
SHANE LOWT SHANE MICROBY
I have referred to Shane Lowry lately (in my head at least) as “Tyrrell Hatton Lite”. I mean this as a good thing. I was wondering why Lowry’s anger during the course does not seem as annoying as he was hated, and my Paul’s theory Chris Powers can leave with nothing if you have an accent seems to add.
Lowry passed all the emotions Thursday in Oakmont. He went from throwing a microphone out of anger to make us open history at no. 3 – and all he could do was laugh.
Just a funny golf. Shane looking red, he has just done double, he is 6 years old, then makes the first eagle in open history pic.twitter.com/fqvhrfknks

While I was traversing Getty Images this afternoon, I encountered the following photo of Lowry and Rory Mcilroy in the ninth Green, which was their last hole of the day.

Lowry may not have had his best things today, but he was still able to hit a smile after a round with his best side.
The fourth hole of Rory Mcilroy
Next we have the Masters Champion. While none of us can relate to the Grand Slam or Tee 309-Oborre career winning Mcilroy at no. 4, we can join what followed.
I personally spend most of my rounds with 18 holes in the rough. The only reason I don’t spend too much time at Fescue is because my home course doesn’t have much of it. Mcilroy hit two shots at no. 4 a 96 meters combined. I was there!
Interview after round of like woo kim
When it comes to his sense of humor, like Woo Kim is one of the most underestimated players in the tournament. He went viral last fall for his imitation Steph Curry after he went inside during the President’s Cup. Kim may have lost the game after the holiday, but he won over many fans after showing how much fun he had in the golf course.
Today was a little different for Kim in Oakmont. He was definitely not having fun. In fact, he thinks the golf course is very difficult for him. Here’s what he had to say in his interview after the round.
So the next time you feel like you are beating from the course, just remember that you are not alone. Like woo kim has been there. Of course, he still managed to shoot two under, but he was there.
Scottie Scheffler Slam Club
Further we have world no. 1, which we often do not see bored in the golf course because things tend to go on his way. I mean, the boy has three wins (including a major) in the last six weeks. But the Oakmont briefly became the best of Scottie on Thursday after its approach to No. 14.
To see scottie angry on the course is pretty rare, so while I definitely felt bad that he was not happy, I felt happy for Oakmont. Members must have loved this moment. Their track hit the number 1 player in the world, even if it were for a short moment.
SHANK of Dustin Johnson
I know, I know. I should not say “word” in this column. The broadcasters did not even want to say it when the US Open 2016 champion hit this blow, but let’s call what it is: one arm. A cold stone arm. Dustin Johnson hit one immediately from Hosel to No. 18 along the way to a five-top 75 Thursday in Oakmont.
There is nothing like having a final approach to the day and a chance to impress the people who depended on the club just to hit a terrible blow.
Here on Friday at US Open. We can have a small part of the moments “the good are just like us” to help us feel better for our game.
