Scottie Scheffler by erecting south claret last month at Royal Portrush brought a nearby 2025 championship season. Cameron Young winning His first tour of the tournament Last week at the WynDham Championship, end In the regular season of PGA Tour. And now we start after the season, the FedEx Cup’s Play off and FedEx Cup tracking.
70 main players at FedEx Cup points qualify For tour no. 1 in TPC Southwind In Memfis, Tenn., For the championship FedEx St. Jude, but only 69 are in the field this week after Rory Mcilroy has decided to cross the event. This is a non -cutting tour and when the dust is set on Sunday, the top 50 players in FedEx Cup points will not only progress to the second round at Caves Valley for the BMW Championship, but those 50 players will also become qualified for each signature event in the 2026 PGA Tour season.
TPC Southwind has been a major pillar on the tournament for over 35 years. This will be the fourth straight year that serves as the host’s place for the round of one of FedEx Cup’s play off. Par 70 that extends to more than 7,200 yards was created by Ron Pritchard with player consultations by Fuzzy Zoeller and Hubert Green. Not exactly families’ names in terms of golf modeling, but their work here in Memfis has received some of the highest praise of each course in the tournament. Players really like and respect this golf course. There are 11 water risks, many doglegs, it is narrow from the box and the gremudagrass greens are smaller than the average targets.
2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship Championship Championship: Scottie Scheffler Great to Play off
Kevin Cunningham
Exterior accuracy is more important than the distance here and with small greens, their hitting in the regulation is extremely important – as it is colliding when access shots fail to hit the placement surface. In total, I looked at the shocks won: the ball hit this week, the shocks won: the approach, the good drives won, the gir to rubbing, the notes of 4 (450-500 yards), and the proximity of the holes from 150-175 yards as this will be the distance for which most of the shots are hit. I also looked at the blows: wearing fast greens, Bermudagrass.
I feel like interconnected courses are quite strong this week. We have many similarities to other golf courses and also the success of the intersection when comparing leaders’ tables. Pebble Beach is known for its very small greens, with premiums located in the Gir and clashes. Waialae Country Club (Sony Open) and Sea Island (RSM Classic) are Bermudagrass-based courses, driven by PAR-70 accuracy. Innisbrook, the Valsspar championship home, is a similar test of a golf -like manufacturer, and a course that matches the Southwind TPC. Finally, I see many of the same sets of skills needed for success in both Hamilton and St. George’s Golf & Country Club, the last host of RBC Canadian Open.
We went down correctly to Hideki Matsuyama here in this column last season. Let’s see if we can also successfully defend our title.
Matt Fitzpatrick (28-1)
The Englishman currently sits 12 in the Ryder Cup rankings for the European team. He will have to continue his excellent game that is playing this summer here in Memfis, coming out of the end of Top-10 with four straight and five in his last eight starts. He has been as high as the fifth here in the past as well as in Valsspar, and has been the sixth in Pebble Beach. He is doing everything well, as late and during the last 24 rounds, ranks 12th in this field for greens in the won, 13th for the good, 14th scrambling, and 11 in the 450-500 par 4s yard.
Ben Griffin (40-1)
Similar to Fitzpatrick, Griffin has the ball hit and the clash called at the moment. He has been one of the hottest players in the game over the past three months, finally losing consecutive cuts in John Deere Classic and The Open Championship, but he returned beautifully last week with an 11th country finish in Wyndham. Griffin completed the race at Hamilton Golf & Country Club in 2024 Canadian Open, has never lost a cut in Sony Open, and there is a Top-10 finish in Sea Island as well.
Harris English (45-1)
English has played outstanding golf throughout the season, winning at Torrey Pines and twice finishing the Scottie Scheffler race in PGA and open championships. He is tall and straightforward from tee and has a short magic game. He has four Top-10 conclusions in Sony Open, two in Valsspar, and one in the Classic RSM. I expect another good week from the boy who is hanging in sixth and last automatic in the US Ryder Cup rankings.

Maverick McNealy (50-1)
It was only a few months old a year ago that McNealy won his first PGA Tour’s victory at RSM Classic. He has also had great success in Pebble Beach, Sony Open, was the seventh in Hamilton in Canada in 2024, and ended the 12th here in Memfis last season. McNealy has made the cut in every big championship this season and recorded four Top-5 ends. I look forward to him play well again this week.
JJ SPAUN (50-1)
It has been a life -changing season for Spaun and everything started at Sony Open in Hawaii when he finished third. He is a main ball attacker who is accurate outside, is a strong scrambler, and during the last 24 rounds, ranks 20th in this field in the 450-500 par 4S and 21 yard: Fast Bermudagrass).
Nick Taylor (90-1)
Taylor has found the winner’s circle in a couple of our interconnected courses, taking home the highest honors in Pebble Beach in 2020 and winning Sony Open only at the beginning of this season. Before missing the cut a few weeks ago in the open championship, Taylor was in a run, ending 4-13-23-17-22 in its previous beginnings. Outside accuracy, greens in regulations and 450-500 par 4s are some of his strongest costumes-and he also comes with a very strong short game.
