Golf is not only my job, it is also my favorite hobby. When I’m not watching and writing about golf, I’m most likely in the simulator or on the course.
This may seem like a given considering my job description, but being a golfer in New York City is no easy task. Despite having to take buses, trains and rental cars to the course, I still manage to play 40-50 rounds a year. I wish that number was higher, but as a city golfer, that’s pretty good.
One of the advantages of being an avid golfer (in addition to an avid golf watcher) is that I understand our readers. When I see someone doing practice swings with their umbrella on the subway platform, I can’t help but smile. Golfers are everywhere – and I love to see it.
As another person stricken with the golf bug, I’m always keen to try out the newest gadgets and gizmos that can make the game more enjoyable. This year, I’ve been lucky enough to try quite a few useful items, and my five favorites are listed below.

The Grooveit Mini G brush is my favorite golf item that I’ve had in my bag for years. You see, this brush is not your average cleanser. It’s small enough that it’s not a hassle hanging in your bag, but it’s big enough to get all the grass and dirt out of your holes on the course.
Perhaps the best feature of all, however, is the strong magnet that secures the brush to the carabiner. After more than a decade of using my original travel case, this summer it was finally time to upgrade and I chose a Clubglider from Sun Mountain – and boy am I glad I did. With retractable support legs on the bottom of the case, moving around airports is easy. I no longer have to strain myself by carrying a heavy bag behind me on the way to the counter.
