The first four links of the Champions League play-offs are in the books, and Tuesday’s matches launched some deliciously entertaining matters.
The elimination of AC Milan at the hands of Feyenoord is perhaps the main result, but all eyes were on the nerve of Bayern Munich’s survival against a Celtic side, which was a few seconds of wearing the dress of Vincent Kompany in the extension.
Here is a summary of all the action.
After Santiago Gimenez Marqués against his former businessmen after only 37 seconds to draw things in total, A Milan It seemed that he followed and advanced to the deleted stages. They crossed in the first half, but the script flew completely when Theo Hernandez on the left was fired at the first.
Theo, who picked up an unnecessary yellow card before the interval, showed a second for immersion in the 51st minute, and this simulation act lastly cost Milan. They could not deal with the numerical disadvantage and Feyenoord took control of the game beautifully, finally achieving the goal they needed to win this draw in total.
It was a foolish decision of Theo to try to deceive the official, and he was paid for as he saw that his side came out of the highest competition in Europe.
Atalanta will play good football at the moment, but last year’s European League winners will not hold any intercontinental silver this year after going to the wrong end of a goal from the Bergamo party.
With a 2-1 lead in his posterior pocket, Brugge was more than happy to sit down and frustrate Atalanta that, for all his possession, he found clear possibilities of being incredibly difficult to find in the first half. They were 3-0 in the interval and the result was fixed.
Ademola, the substitute for half the time, seemed determined to change the narrative, as it marked a few seconds of the restart, but its lost penalty when Mark sucked the wind in Atalanta. Rafael Toloi’s late red card was the bitter frost on top of the miserable cake.
There was a good fashion battle between Benfica and Monaco, with the victorious Portuguese side after a 3-3 tie at night won a total victory of 4-3.
Monaco was at the top of the first half and could have scored a good handful of goals, with the dangerous bream of Breel, which lacked an excellent opportunity really sublime. Given a decent space inside the Benfica box, Envolo somehow succeeded in sending his effort on the bar over the bar, reaching the type of altitude that most would fight to break up even when tried.
The French side twice in the second half, but Benfica simply did not get into. The Vangelis Pavlidis penalty tied things at 2-2 at night, and after George Ilenikhena thought he had set the extension, Orkun Kokcu scored with six minutes to end an electric encounter.
Despite being the little ones, Celtic did not hide from the Bayern and could have turned the tie to the head if they had taken any of their three excellent possibilities at the beginning of the party. Callum McGregor, Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda could have been celebrating with a little more fortune.
The Bayern took control of the second half and the Celtic had to sit incredibly deep to try to absorb the pressure, knowing that a counterattack could be its only possibility of survival in this competition. That golden coincidence was given to the time mark as Kuhn danced beyond some unfortunate defenders to put Celtic at night.
Celtic excavated deeply, desperate to achieve the famous victory, his long -awaited performance undoubtedly deserved Alphonso Davies gathered at home in the fourth minute of the stoppage.
It is a real mess for Celtic, which deserves to celebrate what was ultimately a truly impressive attraction in the Bayern.
