Stretch sticks are a great training aid to use when practicing.

Sticks are some of the simplest training aids – and more useful – there. With a simple straight skirt, there are thousands of things you can do to improve your swinging.
If you go to a professional or high -level amateur event, you will see this in action. There are not many players in the upper age of the game that do not use stretch sticks when practicing.
Recreational players will sometimes use stretch sticks when practicing, but it is usually a foolish exercise. They simply throw the stick on the ground showing the target, and then forget about the rest of their practice session. And while this is not a FULLY In use, there are many more useful ways to use a stretch stick when practicing.
Watch the video below where Golf teacher to see James Hong shows us three different ways you can use a stretch stick when practicing.
1. Start line
Having an alignment lining on the ground showing your target line is a great way to make sure you intentionally intentionally throughout your practice session. However, Hong likes to do things one step further and use another stretch of 10 yards down string to work on the start line. All you have to do is take the stretch stick and block it to the ground, so you are climbing straight somewhere in front of you when you are hitting balls.
“The mistake many people make is that they assume the idea is to hit the stick,” Hong says. “What I want them to do is actually start the ball just to the right of the stick.”
With the extension of the stretch that serves as an initial line guide, you can get immediate feedback on where the impact of your club is showing and making the necessary adjustments.
2. Body movement
Stretch sticks should not only be used only passively during your practice. You can also use them as a help to see how your body is moving while swinging.
For this drill, Hong suggests keeping the stretch of stretching through the chest, so it climbs behind your trail shoulder. This will tell you where your shoulder plane is oriented throughout your swing.
“I want them to feel that they are turning and getting a good feeling for the breast and shoulders rotating,” he says. “And they can see it as they swing.”

3. Fixer sliced
You can also use a stick lining to train (or deceive) your shoulders to move different ways while swinging. For this drill, Hong again suggests keeping the stretch stretching through the chest with each end that is evenly attached to both shoulders. Next, he says you have to feel your shoulders by making circles back – just as you will make a swimming move on your back.
“If you can do this with the stretch stretch, what will start to happen, this translates more into the swinging from the inside,” he says.
If you can include this backpack in your golf swing, you will begin to swing more from the inside out and turn those weak slices into powerful draws.
