Playoffs and golf are a difficult marriage. I really like what we currently have on tours for the first two rounds: 70 top players at Southwind TPC for FedEx St. Jude Championship, then whitewashed in the top 50 players in a rotating place for round 2.
It is very difficult to reward players for their achievements throughout the season and then build it at the last event. The format of the initial shock made sense in theory but did not play anyone’s consent and fortunately, has been removed for this season’s edition. When we have reached this point of the 30 best players on the field, the match makes sense to me, with those players ranking on the list of FedEx Cup points taking a Bye for the day or the first day. This will increase the chances of having a Scottie, Rory, Morikawa, Aberg, etc. Lately included in tours with all marbles in the line, keeping the look engaged. Who knows? As I said, it’s a difficult marriage.
One thing is for sure in 2025. Playerdo player in this field without interruption, 30 players have a lawful chance of winning the tour championship and for whoever it is, they also win the FedEx Cup Champion crown and $ 10 million.
2025 Tour Championship Championship: Scotie Scheffler favorite for FedEx Cup title
Kevin Cunningham
East Lake Golf Club is a Donald Ross design that is tweaked more than a few times. Recently, Andrew Green made a mass adjustment in 2023. The greens, fairways, bunkers … everything was adjusted, and what we have now is a par-70 golf course extending to nearly 7,500 yards where accuracy of tee trumpets. The biggest indicator of success over the past years of the years in East Lake has been won: Tee to Green. I looked at this along with the shocks won: Afrim, the blows won: Bermudagrass) and the strokes won: par 4s this week. I used good wins, close to the 200+ yards, clashes, and especially 4 successes in those who measure 450-500 yards.
I believe that related courses this week offer a strong connection. My first four used were Sedgefield country club (Wyntham Championship), Tpc saw (Player championship), TPC Southwind (Championship FedEx St. Jude), and RoyalRecently the host of the 2024 open championship.
Tommy Fleetwood (14-1)
The man who is still looking for his first victory PGA Tour marked his sixth and 5th season last week at the BMW Championship, his second in a row. Speaking of Top 5, it is essentially ranked as such in every statistical category that I understood as important for this golf course. There are not many convincing left to do. We know that Fleetwood is a world -class player who has won several times everywhere other than America. We do not like to swear in the story scenes, but it would certainly be a magnificent Fleetwood scene to get that first elusive victory this week in Georgia.
Russell Henley (20-1)
A Georgia’s bulldog, Henley has five career wins and an earlier this season at a signing event, Arnold Palmer Invitational. His last six begans have been Play -off, signature and major championship events. Its results were 15-17-10-2-10-5. For me, Henley and Fleetwood rank second in statistics this week, just following who? While I am okay by throwing a big price for Scheffler on direct bets, whether he is in or near the superiority going to the last round of Sunday, I do not want to bet him in less than 2-1 with four rounds left to play. In my mind, Henley and Fleetwood are probably Scheffler’s biggest threats this week on this golf course.
JJ SPAUN (35-1)
And so is the champion of the US Open reign, which has been the competitor three times this season, including in TPC Sawgrass and at Southwind TPC two weeks ago. Spaun also ended up in 3rd place in the Wyndham Championship last year. During the last 24 rounds, Spaun ranks sixth in this field for SG: Tee to Green. Fleetwood is the fourth and Henley is fifth. Spaun ranks ninth in this field for SG: par 4s. Fleetwood is fifth and Henley is sixth.
It feels like 29 against a week – and I will be hoping with these three out of 29 as we close the book in the Tour PGA 2025 season.
