Coming next week, the golf world returns to the anniversary of the United States Open Championship Quavicentennial, which will take place in Oakmont country club In Oakmont, Pennsylvania for a 10th record. If you are looking to buy your girlfriend a festive stone for the occasion, it is not a universally known for a 125 anniversary, but 100 years is celebrated with a 10-carat diamond and 25-year-old Jubilee is traditionally known with silver.
I’m thinking that Rolling Stones were not referring to this important golf moment when they sang, “You got silver, you got gold, you got diamonds …” But the 125th winner US Open will get a trophy approximately nine pounds made of pure silver.
I started betting on who would win this year’s championship again in January. I went down to my first two choices after the end of Farmers Insurance Open and Genesis Invitational, both were held this season in Torrey Pines.
Harris English (150-1); Best Current Chances: 110-1
we landed correctly in English that week to win at La Jolla at 110-1. Knowing not only the history of English in the US Open, but also of Torrey Pines as a twice host of this great championship, I decided to get a knife. In nine trips to this event, English has never lost the cut. He ended the fourth in 2020 in the Winged Foot, the third in 2021 in Torrey Pines, and was eighth in 2023 in the Los Angeles Country Club. In 2025, in addition to victory on farmers, English was 12th in Masters and was the Scottie Scheffler competitor last month in the Championship PGA. For me, it suits the mold of the US open -type prototypic player: Hit him long, right, hit the greens in adjustment and make some strokes. English ranks 29th in Total Driving Tours, 62 for Gir, and 20 in strokes obtained: setting. Probably for the 10th anniversary of the English games in the US Open, it will get a diamond, a 10 -carat diamond, silver and a clean silver trophy.
Tommy Fleetwood (50-1); Best Current Chances: 40-1
I played Fleetwood just a few weeks later when he finished fifth in Torrey pines – this time for invitational genesis, which moved from Riviera Country Club Due to fires in peaceful palisades. Fleetwood’s best major in his career has been US Open. He too has played the event nine times. He has only lost cutting twice and has three Top-5 ends, including a racing in Shinnecock Hills in 2018. He has played 12 tournaments on the tour this season and has not lost a cut yet. He has recently finished the fourth time in two very open-type songs by the US CCC COLONIAL and CLUB CRICKET Philadelphia. On its 12 beginnings in 2025, it has finished top-20 eight times. Fleetwood ranks 67th on Total Driving Tours, 11th for strokes obtained: access, and is 48th in strokes obtained: setting.
Sepp Straka (66-1); Best Current Chances: 55-1
I made this game in late May, just before the start of Memorial. At the time, Straka was out of his last victory in the Hraf Championship, his second victory in the season. I believe that all my early choices are what I have noticed earlier, the Quintesential Open type players and Straka is no exception. He is not particularly tall by tee, but he is deadly accurate and ranks 37th in tours for strokes: outside. He is the second to the shocks won: the approach and the 16th to the strokes obtained: setting. Straka ended the third in the memorial that week for what was his fifth end in the 10th of the season, including the two victories. Not including the two victories and outside the Top-10 ends, Straka has completed 15 Top six times.
We will go back with the final card next week.
