The 2026 US Open Women’s is being held in Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the first time ever, and if you want to be a part of the championship’s remarkable history, now’s your chance to choose from 26 different qualifying locations, which were released by the USGA on Wednesday.
Unlike the US Open, which requires a two-part men’s qualifier (18-hole local and 36-hole final), US Women’s Open hopefuls compete in just one 36-hole qualifier to determine their fate.
The 26 qualifying countries are spread across 17 countries, with one each in Canada, England and Japan. Qualifying will take place between April 20 and May 13, 2026. Online applications are open now, with a deadline of Wednesday, April 1 at 5:00 PM ET. To play, participants must be professionals or have a Handicap Index no higher than 2.4. Aspirants can register to qualify at champs.usga.org.
While winning the US Women’s Open as a qualifier is extremely unlikely, it has happened before. Birdie Kim won the US Women’s Open in Colorado Cherry Hills Country Club in 2005 after advancing through qualifications. And at the US Women’s Open last year at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisc., there were a total of 11 qualifiers who ended up making the cut, including Hailee Cooper, who tied for seventh.
