The last round of 2026 Farmers Insurance Open is being developed and Justin Rose there is a chance to make a lot of money and little history.
Rose comes into Sunday at 21-under for the week, with a six-shot lead over Joel Dahmen. Assuming he continues, he will become the first winner to hold the outright lead in the San Diego event since Tommy Bolt in 1955. (Johnny Miller went wire-to-wire at Torrey Pines in 1982, but he was tied for the lead after the first round.) Rose, 45, also has a chance to crack the tournament’s biggest win. This mark is held by Tiger Woods and three other players.
In Saturday’s third round, Rose shot a 4-under 68, the same score as his playing partner, Dahmen. But it was Dahmen who came away rooting for Rose’s play while essentially handing the tournament to him.
Technically, it’s not over until it’s over. But it could be, if Dahmen says it is.
Whoever walks away with the crown will be much richer. First place pays $1.728 million, which still leaves plenty of moolah for others in a tournament with a $9.6 million purse.
