Remember that the PNC Championship is a family event, or that it’s a scrimmage, or that everyone is in the holiday spirit. No one at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., is playing to lose.
Especially on Sunday, when the final round is played.
He said yes Nick Price on Saturday afternoon: “Last year we came in last and that put a firework on our backside.”
Son Greg Price said: “It didn’t feel very good.”
Said Nick Price: “I told Greg, he wasn’t too happy after the last round last year, and I said, well, you’ve got to have the sting. If it stings, you know you care. So this year, it’s just different. I said we put smiles on our faces and go play golf and just have fun. That’s the real key.”
Then there are the Kuchars. A reporter asked pro matt and son Cameron for their “level of desire to win”, which drew these responses:
Cameron said, “Up.”
Said Matt: “We’ve had our taste of what we can’t get with the title belts. They’re super cool. Cam had his eyes on those things for a while. You know, our family, of course the competition is strong, and to be at an event like this is definitely a great experience. Kind of win, lose or draw, you know, it’s just a great week, but a bonus dad, if you can win the title.”
Entering Sunday, the Kuchars lead the PNC by two John Daly and his son, John Daly IIand they will be out last, at 11:27. Three sets are three back on top, and five sets are four back.
PNC’s television coverage begins at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, then switches to Peacock at 12:30 p.m., before moving to NBC beginning at 1:30 p.m.
