Bob May did not win.
But nevertheless, here is a story about him. Another, in fact. So no, he said in A 2020 golf.com interviewhe did not play the game what-if at his end of the race, after a play-off, In the 2000 PGA Championship.
“The only thing that would be different was the financial side of things,” May said. “I don’t want to be disrespect, but there were boys who came after me who won the shifts, but who did not get ready for the publicity I received from the second end.
“I have no regrets. That day is now sewn in the history of the game. I feel lucky to be part of it, and that 20 years later we are still talking about it.”
Twenty five years later, too. Why? As May suggested, you probably know the details.
The winner? Tiger Woodswhich helped them win that “Tiger Slam”. Earlier in 2000, he would win the second and third diplomas of the year – the US open and open championship, namely – PGA gave him the fourth, and then won the 2001 masters.
But was it ready from May? It was. In the last round in Valhalla, May fired a 66 in Woods ’67 to force a play off with three holes that was resolved by a single blow. There is more here, anyway. You know Woods and his achievements. As for May, however, he not only did not win at the PGA – he never won at PGA Tour.
A pickup then?
Twenty-five years later, he remains one of the reasons-not the reason-to move down the dispute board as you try to find a winner in the PGA this week. It would be some knots that could win in Quail Hollow.

2025 PGA Championship Sleeper chooses to see
PGA Tour golfists are not the only ones who can do some
starting next Thursday. You can too! Here are some tips. https://t.co/uldlyrzvrh

Adam Christensen
Sleep Choosing: Russell Henley, +6000. There are not many players on Earth who have played more constantly than Russell Henley this year. The main concern in choosing Henley is his lack of distance in a course that will favor the heavy hit, but he has been so accurate this year that he may overcome it. If he has a great week by placing and shredding, he could steal a championship.
Connor Federico
Sleep Choosing: Max Homa, +8000. In Quail Hollow, he won his first tournament in 2019 Wells Fargo, and he dominated the 2022 presidents’ Cup, ending with four wins and no losses in his US debut. Homa is overcoming some recent wars, but a T12 conclusion in Masters proves that he can fight for a big championship. I like his chances given all the success he had in Charlotte.
Jessica Marxbury
Sleep Choosing: Max Homa, +8000. The man had an obviously difficult season so far, but his bright place so far was the masters where he finished T12. This gives me some hope for his performance this week, in a course where he has played well in the past, winning the Wells Fargo championship in 2019 and completing the last two years. If a song can help extract Homa from the funk in which it is currently, it is this.
Makclourg
Sleep Choosing: Jordan Spieth, +4000. The latest flash, like his last round 62 in Byron Nelson, suggests that he is not far from a victory. Of course, Quail Hollow favors the long ball, but it also requires imagination and gravel, two things that spieth has in shovels. If the putter is heated, don’t be surprised if he goes low. And with the Grand Slam career only out of reach, it can be the impetus he needs to do it.
Kris McCormack
Sleep Choosing: Joaquin Niemann, +2700. Niemann has been one of the most globally -shaped players, securing his third Liv Golf win in April in Mexico City. Earlier during the season, he also achieved victories at Liv Golf Adelaide and Singapore, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure and maintain sustainability in various courses.

Sleep Choosing: Keegan Bradley, +12000. Why not a little magic in front of the Ryder Cup for the captain? The strange things have happened.

Sleep Choosing: Stephan Jaeger, +20000. Great course. Great Hitter. Jaeger finished 21 at the Wells Fargo last year, where he shot a 65 in the second round, so he went down in the past.
Seduce
Sleep Choosing: Rickie Fowler, +14000. I chose Justin Rose while my masters were sleeping and this was paid. There were legal reasons for that selection. This time, I will just go out of vibration. Rickie has not played well since a T18 in The Cognizant in early March. But he ended the last time that the PGA championship was in Quail Hollow and has good history at the Wells Fargo Championship, including a win in 2012 and a fourth place in 2019. There is no time as the present to turn the clock.
Semester
Sleep Choosing: Keegan Bradley, +12000. A past PGA champion which clearly facilitates the big moments. A good opportunity for him to promote fraud for his possible role as a captain of Ryder Cup.
