Below, in this article on “2024 Black Desert Championship Sunday’s Tee Times: Round 4 Pairs” is the 2024 Black Desert Championship Sunday Tee Times: Round 4 Pairs for 69 golfers – but it’s incomplete. One of the biggest is not on the list.
However, it will be there from the opening bell to the final whistle. It won’t hit a putt, but it will most likely hit golf balls.
We are talking about lava rocks that are scattered throughout Black Desert Resort, of course, and you can be sure, as the course is scenic, that they will be on the minds of everyone trying to claim the top prize. They earned screen time during Thursday’s first round when Michael Kim two-putted on the 18th hole. before they get out of trouble. They appeared again during Saturday’s third round, when players were forced to take penalties from them as their clots made shots impossible. All week, they’ve been a topic of concern.
Said Patrick Fishburn before the tournament: “This is such a unique sight and I’m not sure I’ve played another course with the black rock around it and the desert in the background.”
said Zac Blair before the tournament: “I think the way the whole lava rock is and it’s not a hazard, just kind of a loose ball, it’s really not like anything else. So there are some places you can go and you can be dangerous, or you can go to Arizona and hit it in the desert and you can still find it and take it out. Here, you won’t find it most of the time. Especially on rocks. So I think it’s very unique, very different. All people are seeing it and learning it for the first time. But there is a lot of room to play there. It’s not like it’s too tight everywhere. They’ve given us a lot of room to hit driver or anything off the tee. I just have to keep it off the rocks.”
said Nick Taylor before the tour: “The lava rock comes a little tighter. Basically I think a lot of guys will play lava rock as off limits. Very few times I think you’re going to be able to get real or I don’t think you’re going to be able to play it very often.”
said Harris English after round two: “Yeah, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen, especially with the black lava rock.”
said Kevin Streelman after the third round: “You can’t get ahead. These lava rocks are so — you know, it’s just the bottom of the hole if you hit it there.”
No doubt they will feature again during Sunday’s final round, with Matt McCarty starting in the lead, and England’s Streelman, Jos Highsmith and Stephan Jaeger are tied for second, two shots back. Sunday’s television coverage begins at 5:00 PM on the Golf Channel.
