The German shot putter won gold in Atlanta in 1996, plus two European titles in the 1990s and went on to compete at the Paralympic Games in London in 2012.
1996 Olympic discus champion and two-time European gold medalist Ilke Viludda died on Sunday (December 1) aged 55.
He represented East Germany when he won his first European title in Split in 1990, but took his second Euro crown for a unified Germany in Helsinki in 1994.

In Atlanta in 1996, he also threw for Germany to the Olympic crown with a best mark of 69.96m.
